To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

The diaphragm when working properly, has a stimulating effect on:
1) the liver (to improve detoxification of the body),
2) the stomach (to activate the start of digestion; minimising acid reflux)
3) the parasympathetic (preparing the body for digestion, relaxation, sleep and ultimately the healing ability of the body.

It is important to know how to breath correctly.

Neurological fatigue occurs while doing a movement of the body repetitively (e.g. during exercise) and your brain gets tired of doing the movement correctly. Instead your body falls into dysfunctional compensatory pattern of movements.

This is important in corrective Chiropractic care when we are trying to change the habit of how the brain controls the body.

If you pay attention you will notice at that moment, that your body is no longer moving correctly. It is best to stop and reset! If you can correct the quality of movement then keep going but if not; rather stop.

For habits to change we need correct repetitions... Not just any repetitions.

It is common for the patient to mention "I was doing so well and I kept going! Now I feel like I have hurt myself and have gone back a few steps!"

I was sent this recently, A very well presented conversation on why BackPain is the largest cause of Disability and where to start looking for solutions. It even mentions a Chiropractor!

Cellular respiration is the process that occurs within each cell of the body; nutrients and all the good the cells require move in and all the waste, toxins and junk moves out.

Your breathing and circulation provides the necessary pumping action to maximize how much good goes in and how much waste moves out.

Therefore it is important to breathe correctly. Stop for a moment and feel:

1) when you breathe in do you feel like everything expands softly or do you feel restriction?

2) when you breathe out do you feel like there is a strong contraction or do you feel that there is a engagement in the body?

Subtle differences but after 17000 breathes each day, it certainly accumulates

I thought this was a great graphic... All three rhythms must be in alignment / in sync for health to be possible.

Different types of "pinched nerve"

1) muscular - contraction / spasm of the muscle leading to trigger points and referred pain. Has nothing to do with the nerve.

2) nerve irritation - rubbing on the nerve due to dysfunctional movement

3) nerve traction - stretching of the nerve due to dysfunctional movement

4) nerve encroachment - squashing of the nerve either by external or internal force. Usually swelling or pressure from the disc or ligament but later is related to extra bone growth

5) nerve compression - similar to encroachment but more severe and longer lasting effects. Usually takes time to develop unless traumatic and extra bone growth is the common cause.

1 to 4 are resolvable; 5 - much more likely to be permanent.

A quick poll; which do you agree with?

1) you believe the body is intelligent.

2) you believe the body makes mistakes.

We will be creating an online educational series on "the pursuit of the Elusive HEALTH". An educational series interviewing different people (practitioners, doctors, professors, therapists, healers etc) enquiring on the means and mechanism of what true health is and how to obtain it.

I ask you, if you know of a person representing any health, medical or healing profession that would desire to participate, please forward their details onto me.

Have a great weekend

A challenge of chronic pain and exercise -

1) you have had pain for so long that you are fearful of exercising and causing more problems

2) any and all movement has been painful such that it takes the joy out of movement and thus you cannot find the desire to exercise.

I have found with my patients these are big hurdles to get over. Do these relate to you?

An important sequence of events for correction:
1) deactivation of the protective mechanism
2) spinal cord pressure release
3) activation of spinal stability mechanism
4) building spinal flexibility
5) building body conditioning (strength, flexibility, fitness)

Where are you now?

The dowager's hump ("boggel")

Dr. Travis Mitchell
11:12 | 27 July 2021

I have seen it very common, especially in women as they age, gain weight, loose spinal integrity, take chronic stress, develop hormonal issues.

It has a hereditary component and is more than just poor posture.

It can be positively improved and stabilized. I have reversed it in certain cases but takes much effort.

To start your process:
1) focus on tucking chin in
2) push your head backwards
3) pull your shoulders down
4) off-loading your spine every day lying on a rolled up towel vertical on your thoracic spine

Does this apply to you? Do you know someone?

The Chiropractic Philosophy is an inside-out philosophy. Healing comes from within...clear the interferences and provide the body with what it requires and the body will heal. What is interefering with your body's healing?
